Let’s assume that in some district court, there was a trial underway of the leader of a major criminal organization whose members are in the meantime robbing, terrorizing the streets, collecting protection money and breaking into cars. The accused knows his legal situation is dire and that no matter how hard he tries to delay, there will be a verdict. He decides to ask the president of the country to pardon him. Just like that, in the middle of the trial – without admitting to anything, without apologizing and without giving a single logical reason.
