It was probably in the dark basement of a comic book store near SoHo, Manhattan, where cartoonist Jerry Moriarty, one of the early contributors to Art Spiegelman and Françoise Mouly’s now-legendary art-comics magazine Raw, stumbled onto an unexpected treasure.
