U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff met with senior officials from Egypt, Turkey and Qatar in Miami last Friday to discuss implementing the next phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the Gaza Strip. After the meeting, Witkoff released a statement on behalf of all the participants that included the following rather vague sentence: “We emphasized enabling a governing body in Gaza under a unified Gazan authority to protect civilians and maintain public order.”
